Many of the misunderstandings that people have with the Bible are due to their system of interpretation. This course teaches the historical/grammatical system of interpretation. We emphasize that many of the verses of the Bible are clear in themselves and need no interpretation. However, wherever there are questions, we must be willing to examine our system of interpretation to be sure we are consistent with all of the Bible and true to its own interpretation. These are designed to be copied as many times as needed in order to save the cost of buying individual workbooks. Another feature is that even though they are appropriate for any Bible study, they are primarily geared to inmates. The material is self-explanatory for a person familiar with Bible study but anyone studying the Bible for the first time would probably need the help of a good teacher. We consider these as basic training for Christians. Most of this material is available in a good study Bible or reference books but inmates usually cannot afford such resources. All of these lessons have been used in jail or prison settings.
