SALVATION

John 3:16, 18 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that            whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  Whoever believes       in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already      because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.”

John 1:12,13 “Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave       the right to become children of God--children born not of natural descent, nor of           human decision or a husband's will, but born of God.”

Romans 3:23For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”

Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still             sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 6:23For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ       Jesus our Lord.

Romans 10:10-13 “For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is `     with your mouth that you confess and are saved.   As the Scripture says, "Anyone       who trusts in him will never be put to shame."   For there is no difference between            Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on             him,   for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

Ephesians 2:8.9 “ For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not          from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.”

Dear God, I confess I am a sinner who has broken your law and deserve your eternal wrath.  I repent of my sin.  Please forgive me.  I believe that Christ died on the cross to pay the penalty for my sin.  I confess Jesus as my Lord.  Give me strength to live for Him.

Amen.

ASSURANCE OF SALVATION

John 10:27-29 “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.

I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out    of my hand   My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all ; no one          can snatch them out of my Father's hand.”

Romans 8:38,39:  “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor         demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor    depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love       of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Philippians 1:6: “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will            carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

I John 1:6: “ If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and   do not live by the truth.”

I John 1:9: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and    purify us from all unrighteousness.  If we claim we have not sinned, we make him       out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives.   My dear children, I write         this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who             speaks to the Father in our defense--Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.”

I John 5:13: “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so       that you may know that you have eternal life.”

Then you will be able to test and          approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

I Corinthians 6:19-20: “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit,        who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you            were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.”

FORGIVING OTHERS

Matthew 18:21-22 “Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I   forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?" Jesus          answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.”

COMMENTS

1- Forgiveness is not a feeling.  Forgiveness is an act of faith and faith is not based on    feelings.

2-Forgiveness is not forgetting.  You can forgive someone and still not trust him until you            see fruit that gives evidence of a changed person.  Forgiveness does not mean you   have to give a person another opportunity to take advantage of you.  However,         sincere forgiveness can restore a relationship.

3- Forgiveness does not elimninate the consequences of a sin.  The person seeking        forgiveness must repent and seek appropriate restitution.  The person giving          forgiveness may not receive an appropriate act of repentance or restitution, but       still must forgive and leave it in the Lord’s hands.  We can still forgive and hold people responsible.

4. Failing to fogive will eat a person up.  It leads to bitterness and self-pity

5- We forgive because Christ forgave us.  You will not experieince forgiveness for         yourself or really understand forgiveness until you have repented of your sins and       believed in the death and resurrection of Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.

VICTORY OVER TEMPTATION

Psalm 119:11 “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.”

I Corinthians 10:13 “No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And     God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But    when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up         under it.”

II Corinthians 2:14 “But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession     in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of         him.”

Galatians 5:16 “So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the           sinful nature.”

James 1:13-15 “When tempted, no one should say, "God is tempting me." For God           cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each one is tempted   when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. Then, after desire        has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to      death.

I John 4:4 “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one    who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.”

I John 5:3-4 “This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not        burdensome,  for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory           that has overcome the world, even our faith.”

Ephesians 5:25 “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave        himself up for her”

Colossians 1:18, 24 “And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and    the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the      supremacy.  Now I rejoice in what was suffered for you, and I fill up in my flesh         what is still lacking in regard to Christ's afflictions, for the sake of his body,          which is the church.”

SUMMARY

We believe the Bible is God’s holy word, that both the Old and New Testaments in their entirety are given by Divine inspiration.  We believe that God so directed the human authors, that without destroying their individuality, literary style or personal interests, they recorded God’s complete revelation to man in words without error in the original manuscripts.  The Bible is therefore the supreme authority for faith and practise.

MEMORIZING THE WORD

Joshua 1:8  “Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day   and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will          be prosperous and successful.”

Psalm 19:8-11  “The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart. The   commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes.  The fear of the       LORD is pure, enduring forever. The ordinances of the LORD are sure and    altogether righteous.  They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold;      they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb. By them is your servant      warned; in keeping them there is great reward.”

Psalm 119:11 “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.”

Psalm 119:105  “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.”

Psalm 119:97  “Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long.”

Colossians 3:16  “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish     one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.”

Hebrews 4:12  “For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged             sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges     the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”

ADVERSITY

Job 1:21 “And the LORD said to Satan, "Where have you come from?" Satan answered    the LORD, "From roaming through the earth and going back and forth in it."

Then the LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant Job? There is no             one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and             shuns evil. And he still maintains his integrity, though you incited me against him     to ruin him without any reason."  "Skin for skin!" Satan replied. "A man will give     all he has for his own life.”

Job 23:10 “But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold.”

Romans 5:3,4 “Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that     suffering produces perseverance;  perseverance, character; and character,       hope.”

Romans 8: 28 “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

II Corinthians 4:8,9 “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but     not in despair;  persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.”

II Corinthians 4: 16,17 “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.  For our light and      momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them     all.”

James 1:2-4 “Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.

Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not    lacking anything.”

I Peter 1:6-8 “In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had   to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.  These have come so that your faith--of greater      worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire--may be proved    genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.  Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him         now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy,”

I Peter 4:19 “So then, those who suffer according to God's will should commit themselves             to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.”

GUILT

Psalm 38:3,4 “Because of your wrath there is no health in my body; my bones have no       soundness because of my sin.  My guilt has overwhelmed me like a burden too            heavy to bear.”

Psalm 103:11,12 “For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him;  as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our   transgressions from us.”

Romans 8:1 “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ             Jesus,”

I Timothy 1: 12-16 “I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he       considered me faithful, appointing me to his service.  Even though I was once a       blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I           acted in ignorance and unbelief.  The grace of our Lord was poured out on me             abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.   Here is a         trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the             world to save sinners--of whom I am the worst.  But for that very reason I was            shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his             unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive             eternal life.”
