Biblical Encouragement in the Name of Jesus Christ
INTRODUCTION
There is a need for Christians to have a foundation of bible study tools. Although there are many excellent books and courses available, there is at the same time, many believers who do not have a grasp of the flow of the Bible and its fundamental teachings. These studies are offered as an introduction which will hopefully encourage the participants to begin a deep and systematic study of the truth of God’s Word. This should be a beginning not an end.
These studies are based on the idea that there are three basic areas of knowledge that are needed for an individual to do systematic bible study on his own. They form a core on which an individual can build upon. They are:
BASIC DOCTRINES
INTERPRETING THE BIBLE
OVERVIEW OF THE BIBLE
The Basic Doctrines course gives the essential teachings of the Bible which are held by people in most bible-believing churches. Specific teachings that vary according to denominations such as baptism, communion, etc are not mentioned.
The Interpreting the Bible course is designed for individuals to interpret the Bible for themselves. There are always passages that need the insights of trained pastors and teachers but God intended for each of us to understand and apply the basic truths. This course is offered for that purpose.
The Overview of the Bible is brief in giving some of the key events, people and a timeline which provides a starting point for future study. It is important to have a sense of the flow of the Bible as that helps provide context for the understanding of the various Books of the Bible.
.
In addition, we offer three other courses:
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
TOPICAL STUDIES
MENTORING COURSE
The Discussion questions are based on Bible passages geared to inmate life and designed to open up sharing regardless of their backgrounds.
The Topical Studies are based on Bible verses arranged by topics such as sin, forgiveness, love, salvation, growth, etc.
The Mentoring course is covered in the section, MENTORING.
It is the intention for these courses to be used by teachers who will add their own explanations and supplemental material. Ultimately, it is our desire that it will help many to become as one described in II Timothy 2:15.
